Portugal’s automotive ecosystem is evolving fast from a traditional manufacturing hub to an electric mobility innovation leader. This presentation introduces MOBINOV, Portugal’s Automotive and Mobility Cluster, and showcases the country’s automotive ecosystem transformation, with an industrial base, innovation capacity and collaborative readiness driving the shift to electrification. The National Research Council will be presenting its e-Auto Challenge program, designed to bring together key stakeholders and facilitate collaboration in focused areas of the automotive industry. The program is complemented by the NRC’s expertise and facilities, and a network of industry, academic, government, non-profit and community partners that will support the acceleration and de-risking of technology development and adoption.

Canada has long been a powerhouse in the automotive sector, with world-class battery and e-propulsion research, innovative suppliers and a workforce skilled from AI to advanced manufacturing. But global leadership will depend on how effectively those strengths are connected across the full EV value chain. Leaders from across Canada’s ecosystem will discuss the partnerships and alliances that can secure our place in the global EV supply network – from strategic collaborations with international OEMs and Tier 1s to stronger coordination among research institutions, SMEs and established automotive players. Attendees will gain a clearer understanding of what it will take to convert Canada’s advantages into sustained global competitiveness.
