Canada’s federal government is leading by example in actively electrifying its own vehicle fleets, with the goal of having its entire light-duty fleet consist of electric vehicles by 2030. For fleet operators and program leaders, this session shows what that looks like in practice and what can be applied beyond the federal government. You’ll hear how the Treasury Board’s procurement policies are structured to prioritize EV purchases, how NRCan supports fleets with planning tools, data, and site-specific charging and engineering assessments, and how departments are adapting operations while feeding real-world lessons back up the chain. Case studies span law enforcement vehicles to extreme cold-weather testing in Alert and Eureka, offering practical insight into deploying EVs from coast to coast to coast. The conversation brings together government fleets and key federal departments to share lessons learned from zero-emissions vehicles operating across very different contexts.
