Sunny Attarde is a seasoned professional with over 15 years of experience in corporate, engineering, and standards development across the Electric Vehicle, Infrastructure, and Utility sectors.
As a Project Manager under Alternative Energy Vehicles group at CSA Group, Sunny leads the development of guidance documents, standards, and research initiatives that advance Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure and the electrification of medium- and heavy-duty fleets. He manages technical committees responsible for equipment and system safety standards referenced in the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I – standards designed to protect people and property from shock and fire hazards while promoting EV readiness and accessibility toward a cleaner, more sustainable transportation future. Sunny also facilitated the development of the 2020 Canadian Electrical Code, Part III – Overhead and Underground Systems, working collaboratively with electricity distribution and transmission utilities, telecommunication carriers, engineering consultants, electrical safety regulators, and manufacturers across Canada. These standards are referenced in federal and provincial regulations and are integral to the nation’s electrical safety and public protection framework.
Before joining CSA Group, Sunny provided engineering design and project management services for major infrastructure projects, including the York Viva Bus Rapid Transit (vivaNext) rapidways, as well as hydro distribution and telecommunication projects across the Greater Toronto Area. He remains actively engaged in advancing CSA Group’s strategic initiatives and is a proud member of Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) and the Project Management Institute (PMI).
