Tracking ten electrified fleet depots, each with more than 15 battery-electric commercial vans, trucks or semis on site, for 18 days, NACFE’s Run on Less Electric Depot program offers up incomparable public data for other fleets to learn from, including the energy used on site, the mileage of the trucks each day, idling time, average speed, number of deliveries made, weather and so much more. This telematics data is complemented by onsite visits and interviews, then run through NACFE’s data team, to produce the valuable insights and learnings that they’ll be sharing today.

Integrating transportation and electricity planning will be critical to ensure our electricity system is robust, responsive, and ready for the future as EV demand increases. In this session, our panelists will discuss the innovations required to ensure capacity meets demand efficiently and economically, while minimizing risk to all sectors. From improved interconnection processes to rate design that enables electrification without overburdening the grid, we’ll explore the policies that are advancing the EV transition. We’ll also address the complexities of the planning process, where distributors are often hesitant to allocate capital due to uncertainties about future demand locations, and some of the ideas that are being explored in North America to anticipate this disruption.
