Ben Sharpe is a Senior Researcher in the ICCT’s Heavy-Duty Vehicle Program and also serves as Canada Lead for the organization. He is currently doing technical analyses to support ongoing policy development for reducing fuel consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and criteria pollutants from on-road vehicles. In addition, he is leading the ICCT’s efforts to support commercial truck and bus electrification in the United States and Canada. Prior to joining the ICCT, Ben worked as a field engineer for an Schlumberger, and oilfield services company, in Indonesia and Texas. He also worked
for the California Air Resources Board in their Emissions Inventory Group. His doctorate work at the Institute of Transportation Studies at the University of California in Davis primarily focused on life-cycle assessments of advanced vehicles and emission-control technologies for the on-road heavy-duty vehicle sector. He holds a B.S. and M.S. in Civil Engineering from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Davis.
