Ashwati Michael is a Certified Project Management Professional and climate policy leader with 8+ years of experience driving corporate transformation and embedding climate governance at the City of Toronto. Passionate about mobilizing the public, municipal staff, and decision-makers, Ashwati specializes in scaling climate action through policy, data, and human-centered design.
Ashwati led the development of Toronto’s Climate Lens, Carbon Accountability Framework, and first Carbon Budget Report—embedding GHG accountability across 26 divisions, influencing millions in budget decisions, and positioning Toronto as a leader in climate governance. A recipient of the City Manager’s Award for Leadership, Ash is a trusted advisor to governments and organizations across Canada.
Currently, she leads capacity-building and engagement initiatives within the Environment, Climate and Forestry Division, including the Women4ClimateTO Mentorship Program, helping shape the next generation of climate leaders.
