One of the big advantages of electrifying a fleet is cost predictability: electricity prices are regulated and EVs typically require far less ongoing maintenance than diesel and gas vehicles. Yet the business case often stalls when fleets confront the cost and complexity of building and operating their own charging infrastructure – from hardware and software to site design, installation and long-term maintenance – or the higher upfront vehicle cost. By bundling some of these elements into a predictable monthly payment, charging as-a-service (CaaS), electric vehicles-as-a-service (EVaaS) and energy-as-a-service (EaaS) models are creating a simpler pathway for fleets to plug in. This session explores how each of these models work, how they shift capital expenditures into operating expenses and how they reduce risk by guaranteeing uptime and performance. Attendees will gain a clearer understanding of what EvaaS, CaaS and EaaS each cover, when they makes sense, how contracts are structured and how this approach can improve project economics while accelerating fleet electrification.
