Greg Peniuk is the Manager of Planning and Analytics at Power Advisory LLC, an electricity sector management consulting firm. He focuses on applying economic principles and computational tools to issues in climate, energy policy, and electricity markets. Greg has broad experience in power system planning and market analysis. He is proficient in demand forecasting for low-emissions scenarios and frequently develops strategies to maximize the value of demand-side participation in the power system. Greg has experience advising utilities on forecasting and adapting to growing EV demand and he has supported organizations considering public EV charging and fleet electrification. Greg holds a BASc in Engineering Science, majoring in Energy Systems Engineering, from the University of Toronto.

    Integrating transportation and electricity planning will be critical to ensure our electricity system is robust, responsive, and ready for the future as EV demand increases. In this session, our panelists will discuss the innovations required to ensure capacity meets demand efficiently and economically, while minimizing risk to all sectors. From improved interconnection processes to rate design that enables electrification without overburdening the grid, we’ll explore the policies that are advancing the EV transition. We’ll also address the complexities of the planning process, where distributors are often hesitant to allocate capital due to uncertainties about future demand locations, and some of the ideas that are being explored in North America to anticipate this disruption.
